Senior Staff Automation Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Pawtucket, Rhode Island, United States; onsite. The role includes approximately 20% travel to facilities.

Salary: $135,000–$145,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, program, and implement automated systems, processes, controls, and software solutions.
• Integrate IT and OT systems, including PLC, HMI, MES, robotics, and automation software.
• Manage third-party automation companies, vendors, integrators, and capital-equipment procurement projects.
• Simulate, test, validate, and document automation processes, including factory and site acceptance testing.
• Conduct risk assessments, support safety and quality compliance, and develop process-control strategies.
• Troubleshoot system failures, lead root cause analysis and corrective actions, and improve existing automation systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with machine validation IQ/OQ/PQ, PLC, HMI, MES, industrial and collaborative robotics, and automation-system requirements.
• Experience managing automation projects, third-party companies, vendors, integrators, and capital-equipment procurement.
• Experience with computer vision and AI applications in automation and work in strict quality systems or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Advanced English proficiency required.

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with converting or printing equipment.
• Experience in medical-device manufacturing.
