What you will do

  • Lead the design, architecture, deployment, and lifecycle management of automation systems using robotics, vision systems, PLCs, and collaborative robots.
  • Define and execute the automation strategy and roadmap to improve cost, quality, throughput, scalability, on-time delivery, cycle time, yield, and labor efficiency.
  • Own capital automation projects from business case development and equipment specification through vendor selection, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and IQ/OQ/PQ validation.
  • Provide technical leadership for advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions involving manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D to industrialize products and scale manufacturing processes.
  • Standardize engineering practices, supplier partnerships, automation documentation, MES integration, and smart factory initiatives while mentoring junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with 2–5 years of relevant experience, bachelor’s degree with 5–8 years, or associate degree with 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of automation or process engineering experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, and statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Ability to work onsite in Minneapolis and move through production areas, stand, and operate equipment as needed.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
