Staff Controls, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer (Automation)

Location: Secaucus, NJ, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $93,000–$136,400 annually, with potential bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Design, implement, commission, and optimize automated assembly and test equipment for server components, including PCBs, power modules, and cooling systems.
• Develop integrated mechatronic systems using robotics, sensors, actuators, PLCs, vision systems, motion control, and software.
• Support smart factory and New Product Introduction initiatives through scalable automation strategies, advanced inspection, metrology, testing, and predictive analytics.
• Embed Design for Manufacturability and Design for Automation principles into product designs and translate PFMEA outputs into proactive process controls.
• Use SPC, FMEA, DOE, and data analysis to improve yield, reliability, cycle time, throughput, and process robustness.
• Work with equipment vendors and production teams on tool qualification, installation, documentation, operator training, safety, and ongoing technical support.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in high-volume, high-complexity manufacturing, preferably in electronics assembly, PCBA, servers, aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or semiconductor industries.
• Advanced proficiency in PLC programming, including Codesys, Siemens, or Beckhoff; HMI/SCADA development; PID loops; multi-axis and high-speed machine control.
• Experience designing automated production lines, robotic cells, automated test equipment, material handling systems, control architectures, safety systems, and industrial protocols such as EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, and Modbus TCP.
• Strong mechanical and mechatronics knowledge, including actuators, sensors, power transmission, machine design, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, vision systems, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency with Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, R, or SQL.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML toolsets for statistical problem solving, predictive analytics, or anomaly detection.
• Experience with LabVIEW.
• MBA or exposure to business, finance, or economics.
