Electro-Mechanical Instrument Co-op (Spring 2027)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. US Citizenship is required. Dual citizens are not eligible, and hirify.global cannot sponsor or hire individuals holding H1B or Student Visas.

Salary: $20.00–$45.00 per hour.

hirify.global is an independent nonprofit research and development company whose multidisciplinary engineering and science teams develop solutions for national challenges in defense, space exploration, and biomedical engineering.

What you will do

• Support research and development of precision inertial guidance instruments for existing customers.
• Contribute to electro-mechanical design, thermal model development, magnetics design, materials testing, hardware assembly, testing, and debugging.
• Design instrument components using CAD and FEA tools.
• Collaborate with the prototype machine shop to assess component machinability.
• Work with technicians to build and test hardware.
• Coordinate with the Center for Additive Manufacturing to produce 3D-printed parts.

Requirements

• Current student in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or a similar field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Hands-on experience is required.
• Mechanical design experience with CREO or SolidWorks is preferred.
• Intuitive understanding of the physical universe is mandatory.
• US Citizenship is required; dual citizens and candidates requiring H1B or Student Visa sponsorship are not eligible.

Nice to have

• Experience with precision mechanics, magnetics, thermal control, electro-mechanical systems, fluids, or circuit theory.
• Machine shop interaction, technical assembly, MCAD, Excel, LabVIEW, or MATLAB experience.
• Experience with ANSYS or COMSOL.
