Mechanical Design Engineer Intern (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Assist with mechanical design for ground station antenna product lines, structures, mechanisms, environmental systems, and ground support equipment.
• Design fabrication and assembly tooling, test fixtures, and weldments.
• Collaborate with RF, electrical, manufacturing, and software engineers on system requirements and hardware integration.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate technical feedback.
• Support compliance with mechanical, thermal, and environmental standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, thermal management, materials selection, and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
• Strong interest in manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
• Must meet U.S. Government space technology export requirements under ITAR: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens NX for 3D modeling, assembly, and drafting.
• Knowledge of environmental and reliability testing for mechanical systems.
• Exposure to weldments, tooling, ground support equipment, or fixture design and assembly.
• Familiarity with mechanical or thermal simulation tools such as ANSYS.
• Basic understanding of electrical or RF systems.
