TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer Co-op/Intern (Marine Manufacturing): Supporting the design, validation, testing, and manufacturing improvement of mechanical systems and components for the recreational boating industry with an accent on CAD design, failure analysis, and cross-functional problem solving. Focus on leading continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing test data, reducing costs, and developing technical documentation in a hands-on engineering environment.

Location: Onsite in Lowell, Michigan, United States. Relocation is available. Full-time schedule of 40 or more hours per week is required.

Salary: $18.00–$27.00 per hour.

hirify.global is a global marine company, and Navico Group designs and manufactures electrical components and power management systems for marine, recreational vehicle, emergency vehicle, specialty vehicle, and industrial markets.

What you will do

  • Support the mechanical design of systems and components for the recreational boating industry.
  • Assist with validation test plans, testing, data reduction, failure analysis, and technical reporting.
  • Complete time studies and support process improvement and labor-balancing activities.
  • Use CAD software, including SolidWorks, for engineering work.
  • Contribute to problem-solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to develop solutions.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program majoring in engineering.
  • At least second-semester sophomore standing with 48 completed credits.
  • Availability to work full-time for a full co-op term or during summer 2027.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to enroll in a formalized university co-op program is preferred.
