Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, United States. Offices are also located in London and Bangalore. Visa sponsorship support is assessed case by case.

Salary: $250,000–$375,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering team of 7+ engineers through hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Own the team roadmap, technical decisions, priorities, and delivery outcomes.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across architecture, design reviews, complex technical problems, and production incidents.
• Develop deep knowledge of the team’s systems and trade-offs to challenge assumptions and unblock engineers.
• Partner with Product, Research, and other teams to set direction and deliver company priorities.
• Ensure systems scale ahead of business needs while maintaining performance, reliability, and engineering quality.

Requirements

• Experience managing and developing high-performing engineering teams, including coaching, performance management, and career growth.
• Strong technical depth and engineering judgment, with the ability to engage deeply in architecture and technical decisions.
• Track record of leading complex technical projects in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
• Strong ownership, prioritization, and technical trade-off skills.
• Experience building or scaling large-scale distributed systems with demanding performance, reliability, and observability requirements.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder alignment skills.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling engineering teams during rapid growth or organizational change.
• Background in machine learning, AI infrastructure, or generative models.
