Engineering Manager (Applied AI)

Location: New York City, United States. On-site role with a couple of customer-site days each month and additional presence during deployments or when the team needs in-person support.

Salary: $250,000–$425,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a small team of Applied AI Engineers working on customer engagements.
• Stay hands-on in the codebase through design reviews, pairing, code reviews, and direct intervention during at-risk launches.
• Own technical outcomes, make difficult architecture decisions, and establish standards for code quality, testing, reviews, and documentation.
• Build trusted technical relationships with customer operators and executives while guiding production AI deployments in complex enterprise environments.
• Identify recurring customer and deployment problems and help improve Mosaic, hirify.global’s toolkit for agentic workflows.
• Interview candidates, calibrate hiring decisions, and help grow the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 7+ years building production software, including at least 2 years leading or managing engineers.
• Hands-on experience writing Python and TypeScript code.
• Demonstrated ability to improve engineers through deliberate feedback, coaching, and meaningful stretch assignments.
• Strong systems design judgment, including architecture trade-offs, technical decision-making, and operating with incomplete information.
• Fluency with LLM engineering concepts including agents, tools, context, evaluations, and AI development tooling.
• New York City-based and able to work on-site, including at customer locations as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience managing a team through a production launch in another company’s enterprise environment.
• Enterprise integration experience with EHRs, ERPs, RCM, supply chain, or workforce systems.
• Domain expertise in healthcare, energy, manufacturing, or financial services.
• Forward-deployed, consulting, design partner, startup, or founding engineer experience.
• Experience building tooling or frameworks used by multiple teams.
