TL;DR
Electrical Test Technician - Heavy Equipment (Electrical Systems/Vehicle Testing): Testing prototype and current heavy vehicles, systems, components, and test stands to validate new designs and resolve sustaining-product issues with an accent on electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, data acquisition, and troubleshooting. Focus on performing failure analysis, fabricating and repairing test fixtures, operating high-voltage systems up to 1000 volts, and supporting engineers during complex vehicle testing.

Salary: $51,400.00–$79,200.00 per year

What you will do

  • Test prototype and current vehicles, systems, parts, and components for capability and compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Record test data using manual entry and data acquisition systems while operating electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic vehicle systems.
  • Troubleshoot systems, perform basic failure analysis, and follow detailed engineering test procedures.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and fabricate customized parts, mechanical structures, test stands, and fixtures.
  • Perform vehicle and test-stand configuration changes and repairs while collaborating with engineers and senior technicians.
  • Operate heavy equipment and vehicles for testing or material handling, including systems ranging from 5 to 1000 volts.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma and three years of engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel 10%.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, procedure manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of automotive and mechanical terminology, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Regular physical activity includes standing, walking or running, reaching, driving, bending or kneeling, manual dexterity, and handling loads up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Associate’s degree with three years of engineering experience or equivalent.
  • Certified Welder certification.
  • Commercial Driver’s License, Telehandler license, or AWP operator license.
  • Mechanic tool set and toolbox.
