TL;DR
Motorsports-Data and Electronics Engineer (Vehicle Electronics and Data Acquisition): Designing, integrating, maintaining, and supporting vehicle electronics, control systems, instrumentation, and motorsport data acquisition systems with an accent on CAN-based architectures, harness design, telemetry, and trackside execution. Focus on programming and configuring data systems, troubleshooting race and test events, reviewing vehicle data, and managing system testing, documentation, and component lifecycles.

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States; shop-based and trackside work with race and test event support and approximately 50–100 travel days per year.

Pay range: $82,900.00–$134,300.00 per year.

What you will do

  • Design and integrate vehicle electronics, control systems, harnesses, instrumentation, and electronic components.
  • Program and configure devices, develop CAN-based communication protocols, and maintain technical documentation and operating procedures.
  • Install, calibrate, modify, inspect, and maintain vehicle electrical harnesses, instrumentation, data systems, and electronics equipment.
  • Provide trackside support during races and tests, including telemetry monitoring, data downloading, data distribution, and system verification.
  • Review vehicle system and instrumentation data, troubleshoot issues, and support equipment setup and teardown.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, customers, internal groups, and project stakeholders while supporting technical meetings and travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an advanced technical background.
  • At least 2 years of motorsports experience focused on vehicle electronics and control systems.
  • Direct race-track and test-support experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of motorsport data acquisition hardware and software, including tools such as PI Toolbox, PI Workshop, Bosch WinDarab, Bosch RaceCon, MoTeC, or McLaren systems.
  • Experience with data-system harness design, build, and maintenance; advanced data processing with MATLAB or Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Simulink, C++, Visual Basic, Python, or other programming languages.
