TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Advanced Composites): Supporting and improving resin, film, and prepreg manufacturing processes with an accent on process control, material properties, and continuous improvement. Focus on troubleshooting production issues, investigating non-conformances, developing processing conditions for new equipment and materials, and directing equipment start-up and facility improvement projects.

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; onsite at the Matrix manufacturing location

What you will do

  • Support safety, quality, material usage, yield, delivery, and throughput targets for manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze resin, film, and prepreg manufacturing techniques, procedures, processing conditions, and material properties.
  • Troubleshoot process problems, coordinate equipment repairs and upgrades, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop continuous improvement plans and document manufacturing processes through detailed procedures and specifications.
  • Manage process conditions using SPC to meet process control and mechanical and physical property requirements.
  • Support new equipment and material implementations, facility improvements, equipment start-ups, testing, and operator training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another applicable engineering discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field; internships and co-ops are applicable.
  • Ability to manage capital or continuous improvement projects through completion.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and current computer literacy with Microsoft Office and project-management tools.
  • Experience with resin, prepreg, or other continuous-process manufacturing, SPC, statistical techniques, mechanical systems, or electromechanical systems is preferred.
  • Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, certain temporary residents, refugees, or asylees.
