What you will do

• Support the Resident Engineer with construction administration, inspection, and oversight of roadway, structures, complete streets, ITS, and traffic signal projects.
• Coordinate nightly field inspections with LAWA, the City of Los Angeles, contractors, utilities, and third parties.
• Maintain inspection checklists, daily reports, quantity calculations, photographs, punch lists, as-built documentation, and other project records.
• Review and process submittals, RFIs, field directives, task orders, change notices, change orders, permits, and lane-closure requests.
• Monitor contractor progress, participate in schedule reviews and coordination meetings, and support layout, staking, materials testing, and payment-item verification.
• Support compliance with plans and specifications, traffic control, jobsite safety, environmental requirements, MMRP, and SWPPP obligations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of construction engineering experience on public infrastructure projects, preferably transportation, roadway, bridge, or utility projects.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location; EIT certification or progress toward a PE license is preferred.
• Knowledge of Caltrans standards and procedures, Greenbook, Brown Book, City of Los Angeles specifications, and LAWA project requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, estimating and CPM scheduling software, web-based document collaboration tools, and construction management platforms such as Bluebeam, PMWeb, Primavera, or Procore.
• Valid California driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with federally funded or prevailing-wage projects.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
• Experience with progressive design-build, design-build, or CMGC delivery methods.
• Familiarity with the LAWA Design and Construction Handbook.
