Resident Engineer (Structures)

Location: Ontario, California, United States; onsite project-site work

Salary: $185,000–$255,000 annually

What you will do

• Oversee structures construction work, including bridges, retaining walls, and other transportation structures.
• Inspect falsework and verify that plans, specifications, and quality requirements are followed.
• Prepare cost estimates, written progress reports, technical reviews, and responses to special issues.
• Coordinate construction activities with contractors, the Project Manager, and site representatives.
• Manage project documentation, contract compliance, contractor pay estimates, and submittals.
• Lead and mentor field inspection and support staff while enforcing construction safety rules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• P.E. license or CCM credential required.
• 15+ years of experience with complex bridge construction concepts and practices.
• Experience as a Structures Representative on at least two bridge projects with a minimum construction value of $20 million each.
• Strong technical writing, reporting, communication, contractor coordination, and field-issue resolution skills.
• Caltrans construction management or Caltrans oversight experience is strongly preferred.
