Principal Engineer, Roads & Highways

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; hybrid work arrangement

Base compensation: $168,000–$247,400 annually

What you will do

• Own senior client relationships with LA Metro, Los Angeles County Public Works, and Southern California cities and counties, including Orange County agencies.
• Develop account growth strategies, capture plans, executive engagement, and positioning for major pursuits.
• Provide strategic direction on go/no-go decisions, capture strategies, executive positioning, and multi-market pursuits.
• Lead or support highway-focused and multidisciplinary pursuits, including alternative delivery opportunities.
• Serve as Project Manager for roadway and transportation projects across Orange County and the greater Los Angeles region.
• Lead and mentor design teams and subconsultants while managing quality, schedules, profitability, client satisfaction, and delivery performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer license in California required.
• 20+ years of experience leading, managing, and delivering roadway projects, particularly for Caltrans, LA Metro, Los Angeles County Public Works, and Southern California agencies.
• Deep familiarity with California design manuals, standards, and project development processes.
• Experience working with utility companies, cities, counties, and other diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• MBA or similar advanced education.
• Experience in both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments.
• Experience with agencies and organizations such as SANDAG, TCA, SBCTA, and RCTC.
