Manufacturing Engineer (Semiconductor Automation)

Location: Onsite in Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru, Malaysia; support for second-shift timings may be required.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end manufacturing line setup, including procurement, installation, validation, documentation, and capacity planning for fixtures, tooling, and equipment.
• Optimize assembly, testing, and material-handling processes using Lean methods, error-proofing, PFMEA, structured problem-solving, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Integrate and validate robotics, PLC systems, automated solutions, inspection, and metrology workflows.
• Partner with R&D, design and transfer engineering, Quality, Supplier Development, IT, Facilities, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams on product transfers and NPI readiness.
• Support audits, CAPA, calibration, preventive maintenance, training, and resolution of equipment failures and production bottlenecks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in robotics, automated machinery, or industrial equipment, preferably in OEM or EMS environments.
• Experience with statistical analysis, SPC, DOE, Gauge R&R, process validation, and quality improvement.
• CAD experience with tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks, plus knowledge of ISO, SEMI, and safety standards.
• Knowledge of Lean methods including 5S and SMED, and improvement frameworks such as DMAIC and 8D.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to support second-shift operations.

Nice to have

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment such as wafer-handling systems, robotics, or FOUP contamination control.
• Hands-on experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, or predictive maintenance.
