Maintenance Engineer I (PLC/Robotics)

Location: Penang, Malaysia; hands-on work in a production environment with possible shift support and on-call standby.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled machines, including I/O signals, sensors, actuators, interlocks, alarms, safety circuits, control panels, VFDs, servo drives, and communication modules.
• Recover and maintain industrial robotic systems from Fanuc, Kawasaki, ABB, Yaskawa, or equivalent platforms.
• Respond to production breakdowns, document downtime and repairs, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, spare-parts readiness, and reliability tracking based on MTTR, MTBF, and downtime Pareto analysis.
• Prepare SOPs, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance records while following LOTO, EHS, safety, and risk-assessment procedures.
• Guide technicians and coordinate with vendors, production, quality, and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, preferably in automation-intensive environments.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs and supporting industrial robotics.
• Knowledge of electrical control circuits, safety interlocks, industrial communications, servo systems, VFDs, sensors, pneumatic controls, and troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to respond quickly to urgent breakdowns, work under pressure, communicate effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Must comply with TTM export control policies and applicable ITAR, EAR, and OFAC requirements; access to ITAR products and related technical data is restricted to US citizens and US permanent residents.
