TL;DR
Staff Engineer - Vehicle and Propulsion Architecture (Automotive/Robotics): Own the top-level CAD assembly and powertrain integration of four-wheeled autonomous security platforms with an accent on packaging, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, and subsystem integration. Focus on defining and validating electric powertrains, resolving mechanical and electrical interface issues, and driving vehicle platforms from prototype through production.

Location: Full-time, on-site at Sunnyvale HQ, Sunnyvale, California, United States

Base salary: $180,000–$210,000 per year, plus stock options.

What you will do

  • Own the top-level CAD assembly and vehicle architecture for four-wheeled autonomous platforms.
  • Define powertrain requirements, select components, manage interfaces, and integrate hardware and software.
  • Define and execute vehicle-level requirements and validation testing.
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, software, and industrial design subsystems while resolving packaging and interface issues.
  • Lead design reviews, clash management, packaging trade-offs, and cross-functional integration workflows.
  • Support the transition from prototype to production through documentation and coordination with manufacturing and supply chain teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • 10+ years of automotive experience, including body structures, vehicle packaging, and automotive or motorcycle manufacturing methods.
  • Strong experience with electric motors and end-to-end powertrain definition, development, and validation.
  • Experience designing, prototyping, testing, and validating mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, including complex top-level assemblies and structural systems; proficiency with PLM systems and release workflows.
  • Ability to work with electrical schematics and automotive bus systems, including CAN and Ethernet; familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink/RaptorDEV and Vector, ETAS, or New Eagle tools.

  • Experience bringing complex vehicle platforms through launch.
  • Experience balancing A-class surfaces, ergonomics, manufacturability, and powertrain requirements.
