Focus on leading equipment from concept through commissioning and ramp-up, optimizing Cpk, OEE, yield, and cycle time, and integrating powertrain lines with chassis structures.

Location: Garden Grove, California, United States; domestic and international travel may be required.

Salary: $170,000–$190,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Define and implement process and equipment strategies for EV powertrain manufacturing lines, including machining, winding, magnet assembly, pressing, balancing, gearbox assembly, fluid filling, leak testing, and dyno testing.
  • Lead the full equipment lifecycle from concept, requirements, and vendor selection through design reviews, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, ramp-up, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan process flows, layouts, utilities, automation cells, and heavy material handling for new powertrain assembly facilities.
  • Serve as the technical expert for high-precision automation, servo and torque control, process monitoring, quality inspection, metrology, and gear inspection.
  • Lead design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly improvements for electric drive units and chassis components.
  • Manage equipment suppliers and collaborate with Product Design, Quality, Controls, and Operations on safe, reliable line integration.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of advanced manufacturing engineering experience, including 8+ years focused on high-precision electric drive unit, drivetrain, or highly automated chassis manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Expertise in rotor/stator assembly, winding, precision balancing, component pressing, liquid dispensing, leak and pressure testing, and electric motor end-of-line dynamometer testing.
  • Experience bringing complex automated manufacturing equipment from concept to high-volume production.
  • Strong CAD proficiency, including SolidWorks or CATIA, plus statistical analysis and structured root cause analysis.
  • Experience leading multi-million-dollar equipment projects with significant safety and quality requirements.

Nice to have

  • Startup experience and experience with rapidly scaling production.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience; Black Belt preferred.
  • PMP or similar certification.
  • Experience with Delmia or similar simulation software.
