Design Release Engineer, Frame (Electric Vehicles)

What you will do

• Own 3D CAD modeling, packaging, and integration of frame rails, crossmembers, mounting brackets, subframes, and bumper assemblies.
• Optimize structural stiffness, mass efficiency, packaging clearance, and integration with high-voltage battery packs, e-axles, and commercial payloads.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for stamping, forging, weldment, and frame component suppliers, guiding DFM activities and manufacturing quality.
• Manage engineering releases, ECOs, ECRs, and mechanical BOMs in the PLM system.
• Support CAE/FEA reviews, chassis durability testing, root-cause analysis, and design updates after test or field failures.
• Drive tooling schedules and cross-functional design reviews through prototype builds, mule testing, and start of production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of structural, chassis, or frame engineering design experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle, or aerospace industries.
• Strong working knowledge of CATIA V5/V6 and PLM/BOM management tools such as Teamcenter, Enovia, Arena, or similar.
• Knowledge of structural mechanics, high-strength steel, aluminum, GD&T under ASME Y14.5, and automotive manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing Tier-1 and Tier-2 supplier relationships and delivering prototype and tooling work to tight schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with engineering, executive, supplier, and manufacturing stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Class 3–6 commercial vehicle chassis, cab-chassis platforms, or body-on-frame architectures.
• Experience in an early-stage electric vehicle or mobility startup.
• Experience with tactical, defense, or specialized off-highway ground vehicles.
• Experience with electro-mechanical actuators, power-assisted hinges or ramps, or quick-disconnect mounting systems.
