Construction Project Representative - Night Shift (Construction Engineering)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; onsite night-shift field work at the Los Angeles International Airport campus.

Salary: $102,000–$146,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support the Resident Engineer with nightly construction inspections for roadways, structures, complete streets, ITS, and traffic signals.
• Verify construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, regulatory requirements, safety standards, traffic-control plans, environmental requirements, and SWPPP obligations.
• Maintain daily reports, inspection checklists, quantity calculations, photographs, punch lists, as-built documentation, and other project records.
• Assist with submittals, RFIs, field directives, task orders, change notices, change orders, permits, shutdown requests, and lane-closure requests.
• Coordinate with contractors, LAWA, Caltrans, City of Los Angeles departments, utilities, subcontractors, consultants, and quality-assurance teams.
• Monitor contractor progress, support schedule reviews, coordinate material sampling and testing, and participate in project meetings and final acceptance walks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction technology, construction management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary or public infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of construction contracts, applicable codes and laws, construction drawings, specifications, and document discrepancies.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction management software; ability to use laptops, tablets, or iPads for field documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Valid California driver’s license, ability to travel to job sites, and availability for night-shift field inspections.

Nice to have

• Experience with Caltrans standards and procedures, Greenbook, Brown Book, City of Los Angeles specifications, and the LAWA Design and Construction Handbook.
• Bluebeam, PMWeb, Procore, or similar construction management software experience.
• EIT certification or progress toward a PE license.
• Experience with federally funded, prevailing-wage, progressive design-build, design-build, or CMGC projects.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
