TL;DR
Avionics Technician III (Aerospace): Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying avionics systems across military and civilian aircraft with an accent on FAA compliance, aircraft wiring, and advanced diagnostic equipment. Focus on resolving complex communication, navigation, flight-control, and aircraft-system issues, building and modifying wire harnesses, and coordinating preventive maintenance with engineering and vendor technicians.

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; onsite role. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $30.35–$41.73 per hour.

What you will do

  • Support avionics systems across military and civilian aircraft, including King Air, Global 6500, and Challenger 650.
  • Maintain and update Collins, Honeywell, and Garmin avionics databases.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain communication, navigation, landing, flight-control, safety, radio-altimeter, and cabin Wi-Fi systems.
  • Use advanced avionics test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, reflectometers, and pitot-static equipment.
  • Read technical schematics, engineering drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams; route wires and modify harnesses through soldering and crimping.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, vendor, and other department technicians to resolve recurring issues and complete preventive maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience; a higher-level degree or related experience may substitute.
  • Advanced avionics installation, wiring, wiring repair, soldering, and crimping skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and route wires according to technical drawings.
  • Own tools in good working order.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. export authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Avionics technician experience, military or OJT aviation training, or an A.A.S. in Aviation.
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant License and FCC Operator's Permit.
  • Training in J-standard soldering, Daniels crimpers, fiber optics, or aircraft manufacturer familiarization.
  • Experience with FCC GROL, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, or pitot-static equipment.
  • Background in aerospace and defense, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. military.
