Global Director Customs & Export Control

Freudenberg Aftermarket brings together aftermarket activities from across the Freudenberg Group into a focused global organization serving Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

What you will do

• Build and lead the global customs and export control function, reporting to the CFO.
• Own and continuously evolve the Customs & Export Control Management System, including policies, procedures, controls, and guidelines.
• Roll out consistent customs and export control governance across regions and legal entities.
• Develop standardized processes, global tools, and digital solutions to improve transparency, efficiency, and risk management.
• Train local customs experts and business stakeholders while driving continuous improvement and audit readiness.
• Establish global KPIs and advise Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, and leadership teams on trade compliance.

Requirements

• University degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, Law, or a related field.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in Customs, Export Control, Trade Compliance, or International Trade.
• Experience in a global industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or aftermarket environment.
• Strong expertise in export controls, customs regulations, foreign trade law, sanctions, preferential origin, tariff classification, customs valuation, and import/export licensing.
• Track record of building, transforming, or harmonizing compliance frameworks, processes, and governance structures across regions or business units.
• Strategic mindset with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
