System Protection & Studies Team Lead (Power Systems)

Location: San Diego or Irvine, California, United States. Preference is given to candidates local to Irvine, CA. US citizenship or permanent resident status is required.

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Support operations of the production section, including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control, and marketing support.
• Assist with project management and production responsibilities across power system projects.
• Lead and coordinate technical services with other sections and support administrative functions.
• Participate in marketing planning, proposals, interviews, and direct client engagement.
• Plan, organize, monitor, and evaluate work through proactive project management practices.
• Support the selection, training, development, and management of technical personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of professional experience.
• Experience with electrical power system analysis, system planning, protective device application and settings, and substation design is highly preferred.
• Professional registration, license, or certification may be required; a California Professional Engineer license is preferred.
• Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
• US citizenship or permanent resident status is required due to client contract requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an Electrical/Power emphasis.
• Experience at an architecture, engineering, or engineering consulting firm.
• Consulting or electric utility experience.
• Location near Irvine, California.
