TL;DR
Associate Chemist - Environment Testing - Metals - 2nd Shift, M-F (ICP/ICP-MS) (Environmental Metals Testing): Analyzing environmental samples and maintaining ICP, ICP-MS, and CVAA instrumentation with an accent on calibration, quantitative analysis, data verification, and GMP/GLP compliance. Focus on troubleshooting instruments, performing method determinations and non-routine analyses, and improving analytical system quality and productivity.

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA; onsite. Second shift Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.; training runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.

Compensation: $18–$20.90 per hour, with a 10% shift differential; the stated base pay range is $18–$19 per hour.

What you will do

  • Set up, optimize, calibrate, and maintain ICP, ICP-MS, and CVAA instrumentation.
  • Independently analyze samples, perform quantitative transfers and dilutions, and conduct non-routine analyses with limited supervision.
  • Review, calculate, enter, upload, verify, and document analytical data according to SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot instruments and evaluate analytical system performance to improve quality and productivity.
  • Perform IDL, IEC, linear range, and MDL determinations and assist with SOP updates.
  • Apply GMP and GLP principles, maintain training records, and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required.
  • Ability to use computers, perform complex mathematical calculations, prepare reports, and retain technical information.
  • Ability to work safely, follow SOPs, and attend the assigned second shift regularly and punctually.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience with inductively coupled plasma techniques, including ICP, ICP-MS, or ICP-OES.
  • Experience with atomic absorption techniques, basic statistics, chemical mathematics, and problem-solving.
