Associate Chemist (Associate Scientist) - Environment Testing, 1st Shift (GC/MS)

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA; onsite laboratory position. First shift is Monday–Friday or Sunday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Training is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. for an estimated 3–4 months.

Salary: USD 18–20 per hour, with a 10% shift differential.

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze environmental samples using approved scientific methods, standard techniques, and SOPs.
• Perform chemical analysis focused on GC/MS and semi-volatile organic compounds.
• Evaluate, quantify, record, and report analytical data and unusual test occurrences.
• Complete QC samples, document quality issues, and maintain accurate training records.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and manage assigned workload through backlog reports.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, glassware, work areas, and compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

• BS or BA in Chemistry or a related field, an associate degree, or two years of related laboratory experience in lieu of a degree.
• Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
• Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
• Ability to work with organic solvents, laboratory glassware, specialized equipment, and to stand for extended periods.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow written or verbal instructions, work accurately under close supervision, and meet deadlines.

Nice to have

• Previous wet chemistry experience.
• Previous experience in a laboratory or production setting.
