TL;DR
Avionics Technician IV (Aerospace): Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying avionics systems across military and civilian aircraft with an accent on FAA compliance, wiring, advanced test equipment, and communications and navigation systems. Focus on diagnosing complex aircraft issues, updating avionics databases, assembling wire harnesses, and coordinating preventive maintenance with maintenance, engineering, and vendor teams.

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; onsite aircraft maintenance role. Relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $34.90–$47.99 per hour

What you will do

  • Provide avionics support for military and civilian aircraft, including King Air, Global 6500, and Challenger 650 platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain communication, navigation, landing, radio altimeter, cabin Wi-Fi, and related avionics systems.
  • Manage and update avionics databases for Collins, Honeywell, Garmin, and other systems.
  • Use advanced avionics test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, reflectometers, and pitot-static equipment.
  • Read technical schematics, engineering drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams; route wires and modify harnesses through soldering and crimping.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, vendor, and other departments to resolve aircraft issues and complete preventive maintenance safely and on schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience; related experience or a higher-level degree may substitute.
  • Advanced avionics installation, wiring, wiring repair, soldering, crimping, and technical schematic interpretation skills.
  • Own tools in good working order.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
  • Ability to follow FAA regulations, safety requirements, technical publications, and company procedures.

Nice to have

  • Avionics, military, OJT aviation, telecom, or home integration training and experience.
  • Associate of Applied Science in Aviation, FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant License, or FCC Operator's Permit.
  • Formal manufacturer, IPC, J-standard soldering, crimping, fiber-optic, or aircraft familiarization training.
  • Experience with FCC GROL, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, pitot-static equipment, aerospace and defense, or U.S. military environments.
