Location: Anchorage, Alaska, USA; approximately 25% travel throughout Alaska. Primary workspace is based in Anchorage, with occasional work in geographically isolated locations, tower climbs, and non-standard hours as required.

Salary: $20.00–$49.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Install, configure, align, test, troubleshoot, and maintain VHF and UHF radios, Radio Control Equipment, racks, antennas, and related communications systems.
  • Integrate Commercial Telco, RCL, field cable, fiber optics, coaxial cabling, grounding, lightning protection, and surge protection systems.
  • Read and implement engineering packages, schematics, blueprints, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and approved field modifications.
  • Take electronic baseline readings and prepare Facility Reference Data Files in accordance with FAA technical handbooks and required tolerances.
  • Interface with FAA Air Traffic and Technical Operations personnel, engineers, technical managers, installation crews, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Work independently in isolated field environments and resolve electrical, electronic, and communications-system problems.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be based in Anchorage, Alaska, and able to travel approximately 25% throughout Alaska.
  • Associate’s degree in electronics, a two-year technical training or certification program, or at least five years of directly related electronics installation or fabrication experience.
  • Experience with military, federal, FAA, or commercial radio and electronic communications equipment, including FAA NAS communications systems.
  • Working knowledge of VHF/UHF AM radios, Radio Control Equipment, Telco requirements, fiber optics, electrical and electronic circuitry, and communications cabling.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, ability to obtain required federal background investigation or security clearance, and physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at heights exceeding 60 feet.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spectrum analyzers, time-domain reflectometry, signal generators, oscilloscopes, microwave systems, voice switches, or air traffic control systems.
  • Commercial Driver’s License, trailer-pulling experience, or heavy equipment operation experience.
