What you will do
- Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for facility, utility, and production equipment.
- Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs and maintain accurate equipment records.
- Provide technical support to Engineering and Production to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and performance.
- Support equipment design changes, upgrades, installation, commissioning, and qualification with suppliers and technical teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving tools.
Requirements
- FÁS Mechanical Time-served Apprenticeship with Junior and Senior Trades.
- QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Mechanical, or an equivalent nationally recognized mechanical qualification.
- 4–5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in regulated manufacturing such as medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
- Multi-skilled experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems, including sensors, drives, pumps, flow control, and PLC-related equipment.
- Experience with maintenance documentation, MS Office, and computer-based maintenance tools.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with HVAC, humidity control, compressed air, chillers, boilers, or cleanroom utilities.
- Knowledge of laser cutting and printing, belt drives, cam-driven machines, punch presses, ultrasonic punching and cutting, jig and fixture design, and heat sealing.
- Experience leading or coordinating technical activities or continuous improvement projects.
- Training in PDCA or DMAIC.
