Senior Software Engineer (IoT)

Location: Full-time, on-site at Sunnyvale HQ, California, United States

Base salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect and own the software for a wearable technology check-in/check-out system from prototyping through production readiness.
• Design sensor and RFID/NFC reader integration on edge devices.
• Build data pipelines using REST APIs and IoT messaging protocols such as MQTT or WebSockets.
• Design databases and cloud connectivity for check-in/check-out records.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers in a gate-driven product development environment.
• Support testing and make cross-functional architecture and implementation decisions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including IoT or hardware-integrated systems.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Programming experience with Python and C or C++.
• Experience with RFID/NFC protocols, tag-data parsing, serial communication, and RFID reader integration.
• Knowledge of SQL and database design, reliable real-time systems, event-driven architecture, and basic networking.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT; familiarity with Docker or DevOps.

Nice to have

• Computer vision fundamentals, including OpenCV.
• Experience with access control systems.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or industrial edge devices.
