Staff Electrical Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid work in the United States, with at least 3 days per week in an hirify.global office. Available office locations include Mountain View, CA; Bozeman, MT; Coppell, TX; Livonia, MI; Louisville, CO; Pittsburgh, PA; San Francisco, CA; and Seattle, WA.

Salary: $181,000–$262,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop electronics for custom self-driving hardware.
• Gather requirements, define hardware architecture, model systems, and deliver electronics against performance and product metrics.
• Build, integrate, test, and debug electronics on the bench and within complete systems.
• Use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, TDRs, DMMs, power supplies, and electronic loads.
• Collaborate with mechanical, operations, validation, and external teams to mature electrical designs for manufacturing.
• Support test infrastructure development and product launches while meeting coverage and yield targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of industry experience developing complex electrical hardware.
• Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity, high-speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics.
• Ability to balance electromechanical and EMI/EMC constraints.
• Experience with system-, board-, and chip-level hardware productization.
• Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and power/signal simulation or emulation.

Nice to have

• Custom sensor development or network design experience.
• Knowledge of automotive requirements, ISO 26262, and qualification processes.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing.
• Programming or scripting experience in C++, Python, or an equivalent language.
• FPGA or ASIC design experience.
