Principal Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Full-time, on-site at Sunnyvale HQ, United States

Base salary: $180,000–$230,000 per year; stock options

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture and technical design of the Signals autonomous Physical Security Information Management platform.
• Design scalable microservices, APIs, real-time data pipelines, and multi-sensor ingestion for robots, cameras, LiDAR, thermal sensors, audio, video, and telemetry.
• Architect the real-time 3D digital twin layer, including sensor fusion, spatial overlays, occlusion handling, positional prediction, and event-linked playback.
• Define integrations with internal tools and systems including Milestone VMS, Axis Communications, HubSpot, NetSuite, Palantir FedStart, and AWS GovCloud.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical decisions, roadmap planning, design sessions, and mentoring across the engineering team.
• Align the platform with AI/ML autonomy, incident response, field operations, cybersecurity, and product requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in systems architecture or principal/staff engineering roles.
• Experience architecting large-scale, real-time distributed platforms, preferably in defense, public safety, robotics, IoT, or enterprise security.
• Expertise in microservices, event-driven systems, and real-time streaming technologies such as Kafka or WebRTC.
• Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud and/or FedRAMP-compliant infrastructure, plus experience with VMS, camera APIs, AI/ML inference, edge computing, and sensor fusion.
• Experience designing RBAC, secure API gateways, zero-trust security patterns, and systems involving 3D spatial data, digital twins, LiDAR, or geospatial platforms.
• Must work full-time on-site at the Sunnyvale headquarters.

Nice to have

• Experience with Palantir Foundry or FedStart, robotics middleware such as ROS2 or Autoware, and physical security or PSIM/VMS platforms.
• Familiarity with CMMC, DoD IL5, or other defense-grade compliance frameworks.
• Architecture leadership experience in a scale-up or growth-stage technology company.
