Principal Architect - AI Product Engineering (AI)

Location: Remote - US

Base salary range: $158,200–$217,300 USD per year, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary/utilization bonus.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional teams of architects and engineers through the end-to-end delivery of complex, cloud-native AI systems.
• Define reference architectures, technical patterns, delivery standards, and reusable accelerators for enterprise AI adoption on Azure.
• Design and oversee distributed AI-powered applications integrating generative AI, intelligent agents, Model Context Protocol, data platforms, and cloud services.
• Advise CIO, CTO, and CDO stakeholders through technical workshops, architecture reviews, AI strategy sessions, and roadmap planning.
• Oversee large-scale AI delivery programs, mitigating risks, removing technical blockers, and ensuring scalable, secure, observable solutions.
• Mentor senior architects, technical leads, and engineers while expanding internal frameworks, reusable components, and delivery IP.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering or application development experience, including 5+ years in architecture leadership roles delivering enterprise-scale systems.
• Experience leading teams that deliver complex cloud-native, AI-driven applications from concept through production.
• Extensive experience with enterprise modernization or AI adoption programs spanning multiple business units.
• Deep expertise in several areas including agentic AI and orchestration, Semantic Kernel or LangChain, vector databases, hybrid search, RAG, LLM evaluation, responsible AI, Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Databricks, data pipelines, and event-driven architectures.
• Expertise in Azure API-driven, microservices-based, and containerized architectures, plus DevOps, CI/CD, IaC, GitHub, C#, .NET, Azure Functions, ETL/ELT, data governance, and Agile delivery.

Nice to have

• Azure Solutions Architect, Azure AI Engineer, Databricks, or other relevant cloud and AI certifications.
• Contributions to the AI ecosystem through articles, talks, open-source work, frameworks, or accelerators.
• Experience building reusable intellectual property adopted across teams or practices.
