Staff, Harness Engineering Manager (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; office-based role

Salary: $170,000–$235,000 USD per year, plus equity, bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own harness architecture and technical strategy across high-speed, low-voltage, and high-power vehicle systems.
• Set design standards, review processes, and DFM/DFA practices for schematics, diagrams, and system interconnects.
• Lead make-or-buy decisions, supplier strategy, external manufacturing relationships, and scale-up readiness.
• Drive trade studies covering topology, routing, connectors, EMI, signal integrity, cost, weight, and reliability.
• Govern technical reviews, DVP&R, outsourced cable manufacturing, qualification testing, and release.
• Mentor and directly manage harness engineers while representing the function in cross-functional and executive design reviews.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of hardware development experience in automotive, aerospace, or another safety-critical industry.
• Deep expertise in electrical harness design, architecture, and system-level manufacturing.
• Experience establishing design and quality standards, mentoring engineers, and managing teams.
• Expertise with IPC quality standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620, and strong hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience implementing and debugging CAN, Ethernet, and LIN hardware buses, plus managing external manufacturing partnerships.
