Senior Java Backend Engineer (AI): Building scalable, production-grade enterprise applications and RESTful backend services with an accent on Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud-native development. Location: Remote from Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, or Brazil
Salary: $4,368–$5,040 USD per month

What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, RESTful APIs, and enterprise services with Java and Spring Boot.
- Build cloud-native solutions using AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate services with MuleSoft, Amazon Kinesis, Kafka, messaging platforms, and third-party APIs.
- Use AI-powered development tools for coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, code reviews, and technical documentation.
- Optimize applications for performance, security, scalability, and reliability while troubleshooting production issues.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, and business stakeholders on scalable technical solutions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with APIs, messaging platforms, enterprise integration technologies, or event-driven systems.
- Practical experience using AI-powered software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or OpenAI Codex.
- Strong understanding of testing, security, performance, scalability, troubleshooting, and software engineering best practices.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating complex enterprise or third-party vendor systems.
- Experience with AI agents or LLM-powered tools beyond basic code completion.
- Exposure to AI-assisted application modernization or large-scale engineering transformation.
- Experience with cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, or high-volume production environments.
