Staff Backend Engineer (Java)

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland; hybrid work model balancing office and remote work.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deliver, and streamline large-scale distributed services for the data platform.
• Implement data platform improvements and accelerate data onboarding.
• Collaborate with product management, architects, and engineering stakeholders on scalable solutions and the technology roadmap.
• Advocate for improvements in product security, quality, performance, reliability, and team efficiency.
• Ship complex features and improvements while participating in an agile, iterative delivery process.
• Handle L3 support requests together with the engineering team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Java developer in SaaS projects.
• Strong experience with microservices frameworks; Micronaut or Spring experience is beneficial.
• Expertise with messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud provider, plus familiarity with streaming services and distributed caches.
• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Professional-level English, spoken and written, along with strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and self-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of streaming services and distributed caching.
• Experience with Micronaut or Spring.
