BESS Engineer III (Remote)

Location: Fully remote within the U.S.; listed as Remote - CA. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $99,552–$124,440 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the design and engineering of battery energy storage systems, ensuring compliance with contracts, utility requirements, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Provide technical direction across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and high-voltage engineering scopes.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, system sizing, modeling, simulations, and performance optimization analyses.
• Manage Engineers of Record and third-party engineering partners, including specifications, drawings, submittals, and procurement support.
• Support construction, testing, validation, commissioning, energization, synchronization, and field issue resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to proposals and technical consultations, and represent SOLV Engineering in client meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise with lithium-ion batteries, inverters, battery management systems, grid interconnection equipment, and BESS control strategies.
• Experience with power system analysis and simulation tools such as PSS/E and PSCAD.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, utility standards, FERC Order 841, IEEE 1547, UL9540, UL9540A, and NFPA 855.
• U.S. work authorization without current or future employer sponsorship is required. Experience with project management, EPC workflows, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office is also required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
