Power Plant Manager (Natural Gas)

Location: Leesburg, Virginia, United States; onsite at a natural gas power plant. Occasional travel required, approximately 10%.

Salary: $200,000–$275,000 annual, plus a 25% plant bonus opportunity based on performance.

hirify.global is recruiting for a client operating a combined-cycle natural gas power plant in Northwest Virginia.

What you will do

• Lead safe, reliable, economical plant operations in accordance with O&M agreements, contracts, permits, and regulations.
• Manage and develop facility staff, including a team of 27 employees and 4 direct reports.
• Oversee environmental programs, plant chemistry, water treatment, NERC reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage budgets, operating plans, purchasing, inventory, cost control, and monthly variance reporting.
• Coordinate maintenance and outage planning, plant upgrades, performance optimization, and owner reporting.
• Act as the primary interface with the facility owner and communicate with management, vendors, staff, and external agencies.

Requirements

• Substantial leadership experience in combined-cycle power plant operations and maintenance.
• Thorough knowledge of operations and maintenance for Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines and experience with large-frame gas turbines.
• Knowledge of plant chemistry, environmental programs, water treatment, and related regulations.
• Understanding of budgets, bids, contracts, LTSA, accounting principles, plant economics, power pool operations, and ISO markets.
• Ability to make sound decisions during emergencies, interpret technical drawings and manuals, analyze data, and communicate effectively.
• A four-year degree or equivalent experience is required; MBA is a plus.
