Location: Austin, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Des Moines, Durham, Fort Worth, Houston, Lincoln, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Omaha, Orlando, Overland Park, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, or Washington, D.C., United States. Four days per week in the office, with flexibility to work elsewhere on Fridays.
Salary: $84,700–$144,430 USD annually.

What you will do
- Design building automation, smoke control, and electrical system control systems from schematics through construction administration.
- Lead multiple projects and engineering staff across regions, communicate project design criteria, and train teams on controls design.
- Manage project execution, budgets, schedules, scopes, milestones, deliverables, quality reviews, and status reporting.
- Coordinate architects, engineers, clients, vendors, consultants, and suppliers through meetings and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Contribute to business development through RFP responses, client interviews, and relationship building.
- Mentor emerging engineers and help develop and implement firm-wide controls standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience writing controls specifications, creating controls system diagrams, and writing sequences of operations.
- Familiarity with facility operations and maintenance of building systems.
- Knowledge of building and energy codes and the design and construction process.
- Strong critical thinking, time management, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead others, foster teamwork, and collaborate with professionals from other disciplines.
- Support for climate commitments, including AIA2030, MEP2040, and SE2050.
Nice to have
- Consulting engineering or A/E firm experience designing mechanical, power, lighting, or low-voltage systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, or a related field, and a Professional Engineer license.
- 15+ years of engineering experience, including building systems design.
- Experience with SCADA, lighting integration, security and building automation integration, BIM, Autodesk Revit, or building energy modeling.
- LEED accreditation.
