Sr. Lead Mechanical Engineer

What you will do

• Lead the design and engineering of HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping systems through studies, conceptual design, construction documentation, and administration.
• Direct mechanical discipline workflows, budgets, schedules, and project execution across complex projects.
• Develop load calculations, utility assessments, energy models, design reports, code evaluations, plans, P&IDs, specifications, and equipment selections.
• Coordinate with project managers, internal and external stakeholders, manufacturers, vendors, and construction trade partners.
• Support construction through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, field surveys, and progress reporting.
• Provide technical leadership, quality checking, mentoring, training, and oversight across projects, offices, and regional teams.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• At least 15 years of experience in a senior lead mechanical engineering role.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
• Expert experience with engineering calculations and HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system design.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes, as well as standards including ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA.
• Advanced experience leading field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and supporting field reporting; proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Revit.
• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, laboratories, or food and beverage.
• Knowledge of cGMPs and experience with advanced technology industry projects.
• LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation, or experience with sustainable design.
• Advanced cross-discipline coordination and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
