Midwest - Controls Engineer (MES)

Location: Prime's Office, Midwest, United States; on-site manufacturing support.

What you will do

• Support MES-to-PLC integrations during system launches, production ramp-ups, ongoing operations, and new production rollouts.
• Configure and maintain MES, PLC, HMI, and industrial network communications.
• Integrate MES templates and user-defined data types into PLC programs, including required tags and logic for MES transactions and production reporting.
• Troubleshoot production and system integration issues affecting throughput, efficiency, quality, and performance.
• Maintain production data, part numbers, product structures, quality validation processes, and real-time reporting accuracy within the MES environment.
• Document modifications and investigations, support audits and root cause analysis, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, automation, manufacturing, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
• Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with manufacturing automation and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and plant-floor communication protocols.
• Ability to resolve complex production and system integration issues and communicate effectively with engineering, operations, and production teams.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting MES in a production environment and integrating ERP, MES, and PLC systems.
• Knowledge of discrete manufacturing, production reporting, manufacturing data collection, and quality management systems.
• Experience with implementations, upgrades, production launches, continuous improvement, and manufacturing process optimization.
