Technical Specialist (Controls)

Location: Bowling Green, Ohio, United States; field work may include travel between hirify.global locations with overnight stays. Availability for shifts, on-call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, commission, start up, and upgrade DCS, PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot, tune, and optimize control loops, instrumentation, automation networks, and diagnostic systems.
• Support gas turbines, high-speed reciprocating engines, generators, power distribution systems, and environmental controls.
• Review control schematics, technical documentation, engineering designs, and controls architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on controls, performance, reliability, and data-driven operations.
• Lead or support automation projects and training while maintaining controls, compliance, and operational records.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in instrumentation, electrical, or automation technology.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in oil and gas or industrial automation.
• Strong understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and industrial networking.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, control system architecture, instrumentation calibration, and industrial protocols such as Modbus and Ethernet/IP.
• Valid state driver's license, clean driving record, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, loud environments, enclosed or elevated spaces, use PPE and diagnostic equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field.
• 10 or more years of progressive experience in automation, controls, or instrumentation engineering.
• Knowledge of condition monitoring systems and automation diagnostics.
