Electrical Controls Engineer (Automation)

What you will do

• Configure and maintain PLC, DCS, HMI, sensors, actuators, and process instrumentation for paper mill operations.
• Develop and update control logic for stock preparation, paper machines, and converting lines.
• Implement advanced control strategies for consistency, basis weight, moisture, and tension.
• Analyze production data to improve efficiency, yield, uptime, product quality, and waste reduction.
• Provide troubleshooting support during equipment failures and process upsets while collaborating with Maintenance and Operations.
• Lead capital projects, shutdown planning, commissioning, documentation, third-party engineering coordination, and technical skills development.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in PLC/DCS programming, especially Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix.
• Proficiency with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PowerFlex AC and DC drives.
• Proficiency with FactoryTalk View Studio and PanelView Plus hardware.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and control system cybersecurity.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship and transfer of employment visa sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or Engineering.
• Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing, paper mill processes, and quality control systems.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or Oracle.
• ISA Certified Automation Professional certification or similar.
