SATCOM Terminal Systems Engineer

What you will do

• Support the architecture, analysis, integration, and technical oversight of advanced MILSATCOM ground-mobile protected communications terminals.
• Develop requirements allocations, traceability, verification planning, interface specifications, and Interface Control Documents for terminal hardware, modem software, antenna subsystems, vehicles, and networks.
• Prepare technical packages and participate in PDR, CDR, TRR, SVR, PRR, integration, environmental qualification, and system sell-off activities.
• Analyze EHF waveform performance, terminal access parameters, uplink/downlink margins, AEHF scheduling interfaces, and TRANSEC implementation compliance.
• Coordinate mechanical, antenna, cryptographic, subcontractor, and platform integration activities, including electromagnetic compatibility, RF cable routing, vehicle power, and antenna articulation constraints.
• Track technical risks, issues, corrective actions, test anomalies, status reports, Government-facing briefings, and Integrated Master Schedule updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant systems engineering experience in defense communications or terminal integration programs.
• Working knowledge of satellite communications, waveform fundamentals, satellite access protocols, link performance analysis, and TRANSEC principles.
• Experience with requirements analysis and verification in a DoD acquisition environment, formal hardware-dominant defense design reviews, Interface Control Documents, and system integration and testing.
• Familiarity with IBM DOORS, Cradle, or Jama and DoD systems engineering frameworks such as MIL-STD-499 and EIA-632.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with ground-mobile or protected SATCOM terminal programs.
• Familiarity with AEHF access requirements, EHF waveform specifications, or Milstar/AEHF terminal architectures.
• Experience with COMSEC/TRANSEC integration and NSA-approved cryptographic equipment interfaces.
• Technical representative experience with program offices and experience supporting PRR or system sell-off events.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
