TL;DR
Strategic Requirements Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and managing interface control documentation and acquisition requirements for MILSATCOM space and ground communications systems with an accent on spacecraft interfaces, systems integration, and cybersecurity requirements flowdown. Focus on resolving cross-system interface risks, coordinating engineering stakeholders, and supporting integration, test, and U.S. Space Force decision-making.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States, in a secure facility

Salary: $135,000–$170,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Develop, author, and maintain Interface Control Documents for interfaces between spacecraft, payloads, and ground segments.
  • Create interface diagrams, data dictionaries, message formats, command and telemetry mappings, and system-level interface descriptions.
  • Identify interface risks and coordinate technical issue resolution across engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support system integration and test activities through authoritative interface documentation and technical clarification.
  • Coordinate Interface Control Working Groups and support Engineering Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards.
  • Prepare requirements briefings, plans, papers, and acquisition documentation for U.S. Space Force and government decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering, including 5 years on DoD programs.
  • Direct experience developing or managing Interface Control Documents for complex systems.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems, including payloads, RF communications, power, GNC, thermal, propulsion, and onboard command and data handling.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Cameo, plus the ability to create schematics and interface diagrams.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance are required; on-site work is mandatory.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience with space systems or space acquisitions.
  • Satellite hardware and software development experience and proficiency with MBSE tools.
  • PMP or INCOSE professional certification.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
