TL;DR
Ground Station Systems Engineer (Satellite Communications/Antennas): Leading the complete development of sophisticated antenna systems and satellite communications terminals from requirements and concept development through design, implementation, testing, verification, delivery, and customer sell-off with an accent on RF electronics, high-speed modems, mechanical antenna structures, and reflector positioning systems. Focus on defining and tracing system-level requirements, conducting G/T and EIRP analysis, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, and developing verification plans for complex ground terminals.

Location: Duluth, Georgia, United States; regular presence in the office during the work week is required. Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

  • Lead the technical aspects of antenna systems programs from requirements and concept discussions through customer delivery and sell-off.
  • Coordinate system design and implementation across RF transmit/receive electronics, high-speed modems, software systems, mechanical antenna structures, motors, and reflector-positioning controllers.
  • Analyze ground-station performance, including G/T and EIRP, and support customer analysis, proposals, and contract awards.
  • Define, decompose, allocate, and manage system-level requirements and traceability.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, design reviews, readiness reviews, bids, proposals, and customer presentations.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for requirements verification of sophisticated satellite ground terminals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working on complex systems.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Direct experience with satellite communication antennas, ground or earth stations, and multiple fielded projects.
  • Experience leading complex multidisciplinary projects, design reviews, proposals, presentations, and system verification.
  • Experience conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and testing field satellite ground terminals, antenna telemetry systems, or similarly complex systems.
  • US Citizenship and willingness to work from the Duluth, Georgia office during the work week are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with space-to-ground link availability, rain fade margins, cascade analysis, tracking antenna pedestals, servo-control loops, and autotrack systems.
  • Experience with digital modems, software-defined radios, Q/V/E-band antenna systems, MATLAB, DOORS, Jama, or MBSE tools such as Cameo.
  • Master of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security clearance.
