Senior Solutions Engineer (Fiber Networks)

Location: Remote, USA; up to 20% travel required.

What you will do

• Serve as the lead technical consultant and solution architect for strategic accounts requiring large-scale data transport, colocation, and infrastructure solutions.
• Design long-haul and metro fiber networks, including ILA builds, POPs, OSP/ISP integration, diverse routing, backbone splicing, and data center entry.
• Lead the technical aspects of RFP/RFI responses, proposals, customer presentations, and strategic planning discussions.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, field operations, vendors, and sales teams to validate feasibility, costs, and deployment timelines.
• Create technical documentation, including design diagrams, equipment specifications, test and acceptance criteria, and as-built documentation.
• Provide technical training and thought leadership on long-haul infrastructure, hyperscale connectivity, and data center interconnects.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience in telecom, fiber network construction, or strategic sales engineering.
• Expert knowledge of Outside Plant and Inside Plant engineering, restoration practices, relocations, and standards development.
• Experience designing and deploying long-haul and metro fiber networks, including splicing, ILA placement, and POP construction.
• Knowledge of hyperscaler requirements, route diversity, splicing standards, network security compliance, and the lifecycle of large fiber builds from permitting through acceptance.
• Ability to interpret and create AutoCAD designs, redlines, GIS/GDB files, and as-built documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred; an associate’s degree with extensive experience may be considered.

Nice to have

• Experience in field or program management overseeing complex fiber builds.
• Familiarity with infrastructure practices at Meta, Google Fiber, Zayo, or similar organizations.
• Certifications in fiber splicing, network engineering, or project management, such as PMP, BICSI, or FOA.
