Safety Specialist (Cable Telecommunications)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, or remote from Arizona, Idaho, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, or Texas

What you will do

• Administer health and safety policies, procedures, training, and accident-prevention programs.
• Ensure worksites comply with OSHA, DOT, state, local, and industry-specific regulations.
• Deliver safety, health, accident-prevention, and accident-investigation training to managers and supervisors.
• Inspect worksites, identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and maintain safe working conditions.
• Investigate accidents, determine root causes, maintain records, and prepare regulatory and management reports.
• Evaluate safety and risk-management metrics and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve programs.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Occupational Safety and Health; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Experience with BCSP Associate Safety Professional-level safety methodologies and safety program management in cable telecommunications, commercial driving, or construction.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work occasional irregular schedules, including weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts.

Nice to have

• BCSP Associate Safety Professional designation.
• Certified Safety Professional certification.
• Commercial Driver’s License.
• Experience teaching safety classes in person and online using adult-learning methodologies.
