Safety Specialist

Location: Phoenix, AZ; remote work may be available for candidates in AZ, ID, ND, NM, NV, or TX.

What you will do

• Administer health, safety, accident prevention, and safety training programs.
• Ensure worksites comply with OSHA, DOT, state, local, and industry-specific requirements.
• Inspect worksites and recommend hazard-abatement actions.
• Investigate accidents, identify root causes, maintain records, and prepare regulatory, insurance, and management reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess safety needs and improve programs using performance metrics.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, primarily in Occupational Safety and Health; equivalent experience may substitute for the education requirement.
• At least 3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Experience with BCSP technical safety methodologies at the Associate Safety Professional designation level.
• Experience managing and implementing safety programs in cable telecommunications, commercial driving, or construction.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to manage multiple projects with demanding deadlines.
• Experience developing, delivering, demonstrating, and evaluating safety skills; familiarity with adult learning methodologies and ability to teach in-person and online classes.
• Must be able to work occasional irregular schedules, including weekends, evenings, and overnights, based on business needs.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• BCSP Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
