Director of Cloud Software Engineering

Location: Remote; must reside in the East Coast Time Zone. City: Rochester.

Salary: $165,000–$195,000 per year.

What you will do

• Define and execute the cloud software engineering roadmap, development strategy, and engineering standards.
• Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams while building a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Oversee the architecture, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable cloud applications and platforms.
• Guide modernization of legacy systems and adoption of microservices, containerization, serverless computing, and API-driven architecture.
• Drive automation across CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment processes in public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Partner with executives, product owners, business analysts, cybersecurity, infrastructure, DevOps, QA, data engineering, enterprise architecture, and IT CSV teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of cloud software engineering experience.
• At least 4 years of leadership experience managing cloud software development and related teams.
• Experience designing and building cloud-native applications with strong knowledge of cloud security, compliance, governance, and operational practices.
• Experience with React, Node, Java, Python, Azure development tools, GitHub, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server.
• Experience with Azure or AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications, including architecture, DevOps, or security certifications.
• Experience leading Agile/Scrum software development teams.
• Experience in staff development, engagement, budgeting, vendor management, and resource planning.
