Utility Management Services Business Class Leader (Water Utilities)

Location: Folsom, Walnut Creek, or Sacramento, California, United States. Preference is given to local candidates; exceptional non-local candidates may be considered, and relocation assistance may be available.

Compensation: $162,855–$264,375 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.

What you will do

• Lead the Northern California Utility Management Services strategy and align it with Water Business Group and national objectives.
• Oversee advisory, planning, operational, and project delivery services for water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities.
• Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain multidisciplinary technical professionals while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Build trusted relationships with utility executives, managers, operations, engineering, finance, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Lead or support proposals, client presentations, marketing planning, scopes of work, fee estimates, schedules, and project risk identification.
• Oversee staffing, utilization, forecasting, delivery performance, financial discipline, quality assurance, and risk management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in utility management, operations, advisory services, or a related field.
• Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience.
• Experience developing and managing diverse multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience delivering utility management, operational, or advisory services for public-sector clients.
• Strong communication, facilitation, client relationship, and business development skills.

Nice to have

• Direct experience working within or closely with water utilities on organizational development, asset management, or business process improvement.
• More than 10 years of directly relevant industry experience.
• Active participation in professional or industry associations.
