Principal Product Manager (Payments)

Location: New York City; hybrid work model. Similar positions may be located in Scottsdale, San Francisco, or Chicago. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer at the date of hire; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $207,000–$242,000 USD per year for New York, NY/San Francisco, CA. Phoenix, AZ compensation is $173,000–$230,000 USD per year. Additional discretionary incentive plan and benefits are available.

What you will do

• Lead product strategy and execution for the Zelle event data domain and messaging framework.
• Build alignment across engineering, architecture, marketing, sales, analytics, design, operations, executives, and financial institution customers.
• Develop resilient, performant, and scalable event architecture to reduce risk and improve service quality.
• Define requirements, groom user stories, and partner directly with software engineers and solution architects.
• Drive go-to-market execution, product adoption, revenue outcomes, and platform-level success metrics.
• Oversee risk management, security controls, regulatory compliance, and data protection.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and typically 12 or more years of related work experience.
• Experience with product strategy, roadmaps, revenue targets, design thinking, agile development, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong ability to influence executive and client leadership and translate customer needs into product priorities.
• Experience with payment processing, data platforms, or event processing systems at scale.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture, including event sourcing, publish/subscribe, CQRS, and messaging infrastructure such as Kafka, Pulsar, or RabbitMQ.
• Independent eligibility to work in the United States is required; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or certifications in design thinking and/or agile.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency platforms, availability and performance SLAs, and millions of daily transactions.
• Experience defining developer-facing APIs, webhooks, SDKs, microservices, SOA, and cloud migrations.
• Knowledge of payment rails, authorization, clearing and settlement, message standards, ACH, RTP, wire, stablecoin, and blockchain technology.
• Experience productizing AI/ML capabilities such as anomaly detection, intelligent routing, retry logic, or predictive alerting in regulated environments.
